So basically, bronies are a pretty typical fandom and do have basically all of the baggage you see in fandom, but I do have to wonder if a portion of the way they’re received is essentially a product of people freaking out over there being a group that fails to conform to gender norms. Nothing gets people to act quite so insane, to be so unwilling to take someone at their word, as a guy acting unmasculine or a woman acting unfeminine. Also, if you can’t conceive of someone liking something without sex being involved, that says a lot more about you than them.
